Editing mail accounts

You can edit mail accounts added to your Mail. Changes you make to your additional accounts through your Mail (such as deleting or moving mail or folders) affect your added accounts.

To edit a mail account:

You can add Email accounts from other mail services or organizations to which you belong. This allows you to view and manage all your mail from one location.

  1. Click Settings
  2. Select Mail
  3. Select Accounts.
  4. Select one account from the list, then click Edit. The account dialog opens.
  5. In the Account details pane.

  6. Enter a description of the account to be added in the Description text box.
  7. Enter the user name associated with the account to be added in the Your name text box.
  8. Enter the Email address associated with the account to be added in the Email address text box.
  9. Enter the password associated with the account to be added in the Password text box.
  10. Choose the Mail server type from the list displayed. The available options are:
  11. IMAP :- IMAP servers let you perform certain email functions on a remote server rather than on a local computer. Through IMAP you can create, delete, or rename mailboxes; get new messages; delete messages; and perform search functions on mail.

  12. Click Advanced settings, the advanced settings section is displayed.
  13. Incoming server settings

  14. Enter the Incoming server address in the Incoming server text box.
  15. Enter the port for the incoming server in the Port text box.
  16. Select the SSL check box if this server supports SSL.
  17. Sending server settings

  18. Enter the Incoming server address in the Sending server text box.
  19. Enter the port for the incoming server in the Port text box.
  20. Select the SSL check box if this server supports SSL.
  21. Click Save to add the new account.
  22. The account settings will be tested and if correct the account details will be updated.

    Note: If the account cannot be updatedyou will be asked to verify your settings .You will need to contact your email provider for the correct settings information.

  23. If you do not want to update the account then click Cancel to close the Your account dialog without saving the new account details to your profile.
